On CNN International, African Voices, a show that examines the diversity, dynamism and global influence of Africa’s people and culture, profiles a 17 year old, Michaela DePrince, a professional ballerina.
DePrince has a remarkable story of strength and grace. She was once a war orphan in Sierra Leone and was adopted by an American family. Today, DePrince is performing with some of South Africa’s biggest dance companies. This is her very first professional ballet, a goal she has been chasing since she was a little girl and she’s worked her toes off to realise her dream.
CNN’s Nkepile Mabuse meets Michaela DePrince and talks about living the dream and how dancing saved her life.
