Just five years ago Leonard Moloi had the world at his musical fingertips. He was traveling the world, rubbing shoulders with the celebrity elite and selling out concert halls worldwide with his R&B group Denim. However in 2006 his life took a turn for the worse when he shoot and killed a man outside a bar in his hometown of Soweto.
Moloi now spends his days in a cell at Pretoria Central Prison.
In 2009 however Moloi got a new lease on life in prison when, upon being granted ‘medium status’ he was allowed to join the prison’s music school. Moloi is now able to, not only, pursue his lifelong-passion and once again be part of a band, but also study for a degree in music, meet like-minded musicians and perform to a live audience.
