“No electricity, no funeral”, were the calls from protestors in Noordgesig near Soweto today. Referring to the funeral procession of struggle icon Albertina Sisulu which is set to travel through the area this Saturday, the residents said they would continue to blockade roads with barbwire, rocks and burning tyres if electricity was not restored to their homes. Residents claim they have been without electricity for five days, a problem, City Power claims, is being caused by cable theft and will be rectified before the funeral takes place.
This will be disrespectful…
but the solution is simple…stop stealing cables and electricity, then you won’t have electricity problems
If it wont pass ( the funeral) that area then it would be a war against those hooligans because they are the ones stealing cables. Instead of police using rubber bullets live bullets must be used to unrully elements.
This community must unite against cable thieves this might reduce unnecessary blackouts. the government won’t stop cable theft without the assistance from the community. mama Sisulu has nothing to do with your problems instead he fought for you people to have a right to toyi toyi the way you are doing today because special branch would have sorted you out. so let us respect her funeral. and stop blaming the ANC government for everything and get off our chairs and start taking action.
This is my first time I have visited here. I found a lot of interesting information in your blog. From the tons of comments on your posts, I guess I am not the only one! keep up the impressive work.
