One hundred kilometers from Johannesburg, Kragbron, was a thriving community economically before the Taaibos and Highveld Power Stations closed down in the Vaal Triangle 15 years ago. Observing the struggle to make ends meet, Frans van Kradenburg, principal of Taaibos Integrated School, (who does not enforce the payment of school fees), collaborated with an ex-learner Rudy Joles to seek a solution.
Louise, thanks for this exceptional multi media insert! I was afraid our (School Management Team’s) intentions would not be clear your reporting shows understanding our motivation in setting up these two projects. I hope that other, like minded, people will see this and be motivated to impact in their communities in regards to job creation. Why wait for Government if we can make a difference.
It was an honour to meet you, perhaps we will meet again in a year to do a follow-up.

As an ex pupil of Taaibos I am delighted to see that you are helping the community to help themselves. Well done and good luck for the future.
