It boasts tomatoes, cucumbers, lemons and other organic edibles, but the commercial garden that has sprung up in Montreal is like no other — since it’s located up in the air. The greenhouse sit on the rooftop of a massive office building, and offers a model of farming that takes “green” architecture to a new level.
Hi All! My laptop couldn’t load the video, but the picture suggests that this is in fact a hydroponic grow system on the rooftop, and not an organic setup. In an organic system the plants need to be rooted in living soil, and soil mixes in containers are usually excluded too, so there is another obstacle to calling this setup organic….that is from what the picture tells me though, and without watching the clip one can not be 100% sure….nevertheless, the bottom line is that wherever we are we can grow food, and ingeniously so. Mankind will not go hungry for long if the supermarkets go away ;-)
