Former president Nelson Mandela has been discharged from the Milpark Hospital. At a press conference today the public and the press were finally inform about the ex-statesman’s health status following a two day stay at the clinic. At the briefing acting President Kgalema Motlanthe announced Madiba was well and would be going to his home in Houghton where he will receive continued treatment. Surgeon General General VJ Ramlakan said the 92-year-old had developed an acute respiratory infection.
I would like to wish Madiba a speed recovery.U know anything can happen, we all put our hand to the mighty lord. i wish the media can respect the Mandela family pls. let him rest for a while.
I think the world agrees with you, we all hope Madiba will be healthy and happy for a long time to come. He is an icon and a hero to many. Having been at the hospital reporting throughout, I do feel however that the media has been respectful and allowed Mandela to rest.
I think in this day and age though with so many rumours and lies on twitter and facebook regarding his health it is important for the media to remain close to and insist on receiving continued information regarding his health so as to avoid public panic based on unfounded ‘reports’ on the internet and social network sites, such as seen recently.
