Public Service Workers on strike at Leratong Hospital in Johannesburg, prevented ambulances getting into the hospital. Some patients had to be assisted by police officers to gain entry to the premises. Public Service workers are on strike demanding an 8.6 percent wage increase and R1000 housing allowance.
i think that in the interm of things and looking deeply at the situation that the workers of government find theselves they need to re-evaluate their stance and action stance. i feel it is important that whislt we and they respect their position of need they should come to a quick realisation of what necessary services are. they should note this and start removing themselves from harming these facilities. by reputation alone you probably couldnt save most of South Africa’s public hospitals, but lets not have people deleberately standing in the way of service (essential service!).
the government also needs to understand that most nurses aren’t at work because they love their jobs but because they were pressed to make a decision as to how to best look after their families. Standard!
Service delivery strikes are as results of these people who are today demanding increament failing to do what they are employed to do
