Weather weighs down on Red Bull X-Alps athletes
Day two of Red Bull X-Alps 2011 turned out to be a pretty tough one for all athletes due to poor weather conditions. Patience was key on the day as South Africa’s own Pierre Carter along two other athletes waited atop the Dachstein for a break in the clouds, while the others slogged on foot below. Once the clouds cleared however the three were able to get airborne and leap-frogged over the heads of several race leaders.
Fifteen front-runners are racing along the valleys towards SalzburgerLand’s Grossglockner, and hundreds of thousands are watching around the world through Live Tracking, ServusTV and the world’s media. The first athlete to reach the Grossglockner turnpoint will be crowned Glockner King and will win a special trophy and prize.
