Millions of tonnes of toxic mine residue is set to be dumped just a kilometre from the Vaal River Barrage, which provides drinking and irrigation water to thousands of people and farmers. Farmers and residents of Vermaarsdrift in the North West province said they were not consulted about the construction of the super dump in their area.
