Several decades ago, prisoners at Robben Island, tired of being oppressed by officials who refused them permission to play soccer on weekends, decided to start a league called Makana Football Association. Fast-forward to today and some surviving members share their memories of a place they still call home. Even President Jacob Zuma was a referee during the initial years of the Makana FA.
