Two university students are challenging the concept of public lectures usually held at academic institutions, by taking them to the public. Professor Isabel Hofmeyer from the WITS school of African literature gave the latest public lecture on a train travelling from Park Station, central Johannesburg to Phomolong, Soweto. The students who have arranged the ‘Sermon on a train’ public lecture series are questioning knowledge, where it comes from and who can access it.
