The ZNews clip is hilarious! Despite the SABC’s attempts to block the show, the footage is all over the Internet. The bosses at Auckland Park will never be able to block hard-hitting content from leaking to the media. Remember the SABC’s failed attempt to stop its blacklist from being leaked to other journalists.

ok, i think that we’ve had enough of this sort of thing now. zapiro is just a pure hater and he is given too much platform. let the anc bring themselves down if they are that bad as i think they are.

it’s already been done – ad infinitum :P a good satirist knows when something is not funny/topical anymore.

and we pay too much money to watch the locally produced rubbish (with too few exceptions) SABC do decide to air…

zapiro can’t be blamed for actually using the images and words he does when they are handed to him in such large, convenient (and hilarious) doses by the greatest naysayers in our country…

Agree with Bathie – the show is not stupid it is a satirical south african masterpiece and more of this should be happening to keep those that spend our money (politicians and government officials who spend our taxes) on their toes!

If they are given too much freedom, we are in danger of losing ours.
Zapiro and other – give us more and more and more! This political commentary is priceless and that fact that THE TIMES is sharing it means that democracy is something that has not yet been lost – hopefully it never will be!

Great work Zapiro…… its a pitty that the SABC is so biased and refused to air this show….. We need to laugh every once in a while and this achieves exactly that. We have just gone through a seriously tense period with the recalling of the RSA President, Corruption charges again President Zuma, dropping of his charges and the other things that kept us worried about the running of this country…. This atleast brings humour to all of that and we should welcome it, actually we should have more of this sort of thing.

Come on guys we need to encourage South African productions and media freedom in this country at the least… we may not really like the topic but we should be happy that some people in this country are coming up with creative initiatives.

@ Jeedo: have a look at this video on Youtube (link below). It’s from the legendary ‘Spitting Image’ series. It was made when South Africa was still under Apartheid rule.
Cartoonists and satire are used to challenge the status quo and the powerful. Race has nothing to do with it. When a politician is ridiculed, it’s only him and what he stands for as a public figure that are mocked, not his religion, his race or his nationality. If you are personally offended by how we treat JZ, Gwenda Mantashe, Mbeki or other black leaders, it’s probably for the same reasons that some jews or some Israelis might be offended by what is implied in this video of ex Israeli PM Shamir answering questions on Israel’s disastrous human rights record. So just ask yourself the question why.

Great stuff, as someone who studied media in the uk,at the time of Margaret Thatcher and Niel Kinnock, we were always treated to this kind of entertainment, which most of us from Afrika always dreamed of having it in our countries. It looks like no form of criticism is tolerated by the ANC and their supporters, not even well intentioned constructive criticism. We are heading towards a comunist type of dictatorship where everyone must do as the ANC tells them to do but the masters in charge has a free hand to carry on with any crime and corruption as they see fit. ie do as I tell you and dont follow my example as I do as I please.
