Homes burn as xenophobic violence continues
Hundreds of families from an informal settlement in the West Rand of Gauteng are now homeless after a fire was started in xenophobic-related violence. Staff reporter Stephen Stranack was on the scene and took this video footage.

Its pathetic to see a fully grown man probably with kids, blaming his failure to provide shelter and live a better life on our African brothers who saw this need and decided to do something about it. Im asking myself why he thinks the goverment should give him shelter if he can justify burning someone else’s house. These people make me sick

Very, very worried to see our fellow africans dying like flies in the hands of hypocrites and heartless holigans of our country. Some very responsible africans are robbed of their lives in the process for no apparent and concrete reasons. I wish i could have power and influence to assist our economically struglling fellow africans. South Africans tend to forget easily on how we gained access to the neighbouring countries during the time of struggle and how we survived in the land of unknown.

My heart cries as I see an innocent baby being neglected after her mum is attacked and can no longer protect her. She did not ask for this to happen. She did not ask to be left alone and neglected. Our hearts go out to this baby and many other innocent lives that do not ask for this sort of punishment. Are we forgetting that God almighty is watching? Do you leave your hearts, your compasssion? your love and your forgiveness behind when you burn homes, homes that are made of tin and cardboard, homes that barely have the basic necessities. When you hit, stab and shoot, try to feel the pain that you are causing to those that could not help their identity. Had you been the foreigner, how would you feel? Did they have a choice of who they want to be? Did they have a choice of living in poverty. Please do not forget that as powerful as you may want to be and the strength you wish to show..there is only one God and he alone will deal with you as he puts people into situations and just the same he will take them out of it. It is just a test for you and you know what, sadly you have failed and God will deal with you. So TODAY i will put my hands to gether and pray for those that are not to be blamed for what they have been put through and those who have lost their lives as a result of the abuse. And I will pray to God that all those who have lifted their hands and hurt, wounded or killed another human being, may you experience the wrath of God almighty and may he deal with you as you deserve.

We are called the children of the rainbow nation, we are diverged but uniting in one thing called “UBUNTU”. Now is the time to ask ourself where our Ubuntu that we once have and embrace. Where is the love for our fellow Africans?, Why are not chasing the European which their country is good economically but decide to chase the poor of the poorer. Ma-Africa, lets stop pointing fingures and start to use our brains

I am an East Rand resident and i must say i am appalled at the behaviour of mothers from Pumula East Rand. when these so called attacks were conducted they were at the front line looting and taking their children along with them on these sprees. if those same children grow up and continue looting who will they blame -GOVERNMENT… but it began with them. how can we sit and encourage all these attacks. i hang my head in shame at being called a SOuth aFRICAN TODAY. the people of Ubuntu? Poeple like Tereblanche are laughing at us now to say “Look at these idiots we knew they werent going to go far” Bring in the army i think the police are not equipped for this

The on-going xenophobic assaults against foreigners living not only in Alexandra but also in the whole South African entity are now becoming a notional plot against them. “It’s like having a visitor in your house/home and letting your kids beating him/her without urgent intervention; host parents are considered accountable to the assault. A parent whose kid is beating a visitor is seen as an irresponsible and master of such a secret plot!”. Let the truth be spoken, as the president has recently put it, “There must be “a who” behind this xenophobia”.
But whilst invistigation is secretly conducted, let us not forget that people are dying and solution to the problem should be urgently sought.
If such “a who” is not discovered yet, let the government fight against this infamous trend. It is longer “a who” but now “a woe” or “a foe” that has come to devastate inhumanly a modern South Africa.
This, if ignored, would finally become an expensive migration to South Africa and South African political fallout in Post-Apartheid era.

I am a young black female who grew up in the twentienth century, i grew up with utter respect for every South African (especially those who fought for our freedom) but today after having to see all this footage of xenophobic attacks on our fellow Africans, i feel disgusted and embarrased to even look at someone foreign and tell them i am South African because we have turned out to be monsters instead of a loving nation that is working towards humanitarism. Dont we have any gratitude for how the fellow african countries accomodated those who went to exile during the apartheid era! Clearly education does play a role in what you turnout to be, SIS South Africa, God does not forget!!!!!

How soon we forget that we have been seeking assylum from these so called foreigners when Whites were spraying us with bullets. We have been received with warm hands and false names and passports made for us to go through to other African countries to persue the struggle for freedom. Alas! even Nelson Mandela is still alive and experiencing such. I feel for the freedom fighters. They have sacrificed their life time, others with their lifes for peace and this is what they are receiving as thanks.
It’s a pity we are just communicating amongst ourselves and I wonder if such comments, really will reach those holigans who are perpetrating this devilish acts.
The devil has a way of fighting his wars, and no doubt he uses us human beings. You succumb to him once, you have signed your life to all his dirty tricks.
May the Mighty God who knows and controls everything such us from this mess.

It is easy to see how our fellow brothers forget that the struggly of foreigners who are our neighbours is what most nations went through. The problem with South Africans is not the foreigners but frustration. We have accomodated a lot of foreigners in our country, Zimbabwe but we never complained.l wonder why they do not deal woth their problems and not blame it on others.what do they mean foreigners are taking their jobs? They need to be adequately equiped and have a competitive advantage then they will not complain.

One of these days everyone will be a foreigner if he is not an African. Remember how Idi Amin expelled all the Indians in Uganda and the expulsion of all the Portuguese in Mozambigue. Our fat cat Politicians is there not for you but for themselves..Thet dont really care a damned for others.
Thabo Bheki, a President he calls himself. He is the biggest embarassment to his country and the world.
He says, what crisis, what crime, what corruption, what elecricity shortage, its only a perception.
Resign please please please.

People people – I feel your pain from both sides – those of you who are suffering everyday and then those of you whom have run from a life of suffering in other countries.
What I would like everyone to look at is – why not stop turning on one another and blaming but stand together and demand what the government promised – constitutional rights for everyone – homes – jobs – education – this is what feeds the people and brings contentment. Of course unhappiness and sadness is in the eyes of all those people who sufffer and as usual it is the underprivileged and the poor. Yes stop the fighting with each other and turn around and question the leaders of this country – ask them “Did they fight for freedom so that they can have lovely comfortable homes or was it all for the multitudes?” Anger and hurt and pain are rife in any person who is not being heard and it is time for the leaders of this country to do what they set out to do in the beginning – give back to the people.

I have no proper words to comment on the issue because my heart is bleeding. To those who have lost their beloved ones, i say “I JOIN HANDS WITH YOU AND I AM WITH YOU IN ALL MY PRAYERS” Remember God is not for one person, he is there for all of us. To those who caused this, i say your time is coming, tomorrow you will be a foreigner somewhere, noone knows what South Africa will be tomorrow. I AM SAD MY FRIENDS, I AM SO SAD, I REPEAT THIS, I AM SAD. WE NEED GOD TO INTERVENE AND LETS ALL PRAY FOR THIS SITUATION.
