Protesters around the world held demonstrations calling for governments to dismantle nuclear power plants after nuclear reactors in Japan were damaged by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami, threatening a meltdown. According to protesters, there are structural defects in the plant that pose risks to the environment and communities.
