Chris Brown was the big winner at this year’s BET Awards. The 22-year-old R&B singer scooped 4 Awards including male R&B artist, video of the year and collaboration of the year. He also won the viewers choice award but there was a bit of confusion about it because the awards presenter, Tiffany Greene mistakenly announced Rihanna as the winner. The northern Gauteng Open kicked off at the Pretoria Country club attracting South Africa’s finest professional players. Clinton Leeuw, Shaun le Roux and soon to join them Steve Coppinger are all back from the PSA circuit and are the main attraction at the event.
The Northern Gauteng Open is the first of a series of majors this season which culminates with South Africa competing later this year at the World Men’s Teams Championships which will take place in Germany. The stage is set for the like of JP Brits, Christo Potgieter and Thaboki to impress the selectors and is expected to cause a few upsets.

Lady Gaga was presented with the fashion icon trophy at this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) award ceremony. The award organisers say that the outrageous Pop star was given the prize for “being a fashion revolutionary”. Other awards were given to Michael Bastian and Alexander Wang, who were named best menswear designer and top accessories designer respectively. And designer Marc Jacobs, was the honoree of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
