Political Notebook #38: President Jacob Zuma speaks out
In this week’s political notebook Sunday Times editor Ray Hartley and Sunday Times political editor Sthembiso Msomi speak to President Jacob Zuma. The President is asked about the ongoing public sector strike, if he plans to serve a second term, media freedom and nepotism regarding mineral rights deals.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an edited version of an hour-long interview with the President.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but is it not the responsibilty of journalists to state the facts and not to shape perceptions?

Why does he do that? I mean laugh every time a burning issue is raised. This video makes me cringe…
TRACY
Because it’s a clown, an idiot.

Vavi is 100% right, the government is corruptive. JZ does not answer to that Q, instead he mumbles around uttering rubbish – saying it is a political matter; He should face the facts, he must admit and remedy the corruptiveness.
The strike was caused by u for remunerating the gov officials so largely and doing the opposite to the civil workers.
I totally disagree on the media tribunal nonsense. Mr Zuma gives privatisation as 1 of the reasons for seconding media tribunal. My argument is: u cant hide something that is not wrong. Once u start to hide that evidently means that u r up to some mischief. As our leader we have to know about u in order to trust u.
On the last part, I definitely agree with Zuma; Everyone have a right to do business in this beautiful country

It’s a political matter – create the COSATU party and fix it

Who is driving this ship ?
Its seems we are adrift and the answer to all ails – is shup up the critics
Looks like we are heading for serious trouble and that the strike is only the begining.

Most of those government members to MPs didn’t really study but because of the struggle and because the are ANC…they can get 150,000 Rand while they can’t pay nurse, doctors, police, teachers who actually make a difference in everyone’s lives daily….maybe we should all leave South Africa…I’m up for it F*** this ****

TO ME the current tension and the ongoing battle within the ruling party and its alliance patners is a true practical reflection of Capitalists whose only unfair interest is on power and wealth,, they tend to marginalise the masses as the only discussion is centred on tthe issue of succession, even the current visit (umzi nomzi) is jst an addition to the promises they already made ,,,,,even the comminism is not an answer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I am not happy with a lot of things with our government but to leave this country is out of line. how can you run away from your own country. Frankly, that is bullsh**t, if you wanna leave this country you must go but don’t say we should all leave. if you are fed up with this government and you really wanna leave you must leave but people like me will never leave our country. We will stay and fight for what we want , like they did during the aparthied government.
symon
I definitely agree with u Terence. we will fight any rubbish being done by the gov officials. There is gonna be a change as it has aways been.

We warned the world what the result would be if you voted this baboon zuma to president. But of course the monkeys never listen here in SA, so they must live with the baboon government they voted for. I just laugh, because I don’t pay tax, so the monkeys can’t steal my money.
