Sadtu rejects government’s latest offer
South African Democratic Teachers Union in Gauteng has rejected the latest wage offer tabled by the government of 7.5 percent salary increase and R800 housing allowance. This comes after President Jacob Zuma had urged both unions and government to negotiate further with regards to the offer presently on the table. We spoke to Sadtu Gauteng General Secretary Ronald Nyathi about the union ‘ s decision. They are demanding 8.6 percent and R1000 housing allowance.

I dont agree with that offer of 7.5% ,i want 8.6% as we required for government and R1000.00 for housing allowance. In think this is straight and foward no negotiation its been a long time.

We refuse!!!! the governent is undermining the Worker’s Unions, we did not want to strike but the government forced us to do so. we have been in the street for almost a month now and they think we can settle for a 0.5% no! they are not going to pay us for three weeks period and I think that 0.5% is coming from the unpaid salaries of “no work, no pay” policy. We have sacrificed a lot to make our voices to be heard and for that we say no compromise on our demands.

We don’t give a flying f#ck about your “voices”. Who the f#ck do you think you monkeys are anyway, that you can strike whenever you feel like it, nobody is interested in your monkey “voices”. You dumb monkeys can’t work out you’ve lost more than you’ve gained. Anyway, if I was in charge I would have ordered you baboons shot on the spot, just because you monkeys.

Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for about 30 years for no reason. He became a president, But bcos he is too clever he never revenged, instead he called for reconciliation. I can see it (reconciliation), It is just that there r a few people wastintg their time by being racist trying to ruin this beautiful country.
A change occured, and it will persist on happening. Just watch 2020, there’ll be no room for racism.

My humbly opinion is that in a no work no pay kind of strike, unions must continue discussions but workers continue 2 work bcoz this negatively impact on our future graduates, learners from matric’re being compromised too much
