I dont know what the problem is. it is their culture after all. Just because we shoppers dont see the meat being cut does not make it any more humane. No type of killing is humane. What about all the lions and rhino that are hunted by Europeans and Americans. That is allowed in this country because they pay big bucks for the thrill of killing a lion. And we keep saying the big 5, come see the big 5. People need torealise that this big 5 is also being marketed by S.A. companies to overseas investors and their families for hunting purposes. Hell, they even smear the blood on themselves as a bush ritual! No outcry over that!
And what are you going to do about the company Blackfin Angling in Durban?? They blatantly advertise the catching of shark as a sport. Watch Blackfin Angling on Saffron TV, DSTV. But its ok cos they are a registered company. they cut the sharks mouth with a knife to take out the hook again. Its quite horrific to see. But its ok right??

Meera, how on earth can you not see a problem with a warm-blooded animal having his tongue ripped out, his testicales tied in a knot and later ripped away, sand stuffed down his throat so he slowly suffacates, blows rained down on his kidneys, liver, spleen, heart, fingers scratching at his eyes…..the agony goes on and on and on. I still cannot clear my mind of that picture I saw in Saturday’s paper of a bull being tortured by human beings – his eyes rolling back in terror whilst some ******* ripped away with all his might at this poor creature’s tongue. Only a savage would enjoy inflicting such pain on an animal. Yes, the killing or rhinos and lions is horrific and should also be publicised but for heaven’s sake surely you can see the differece between one shot to the brain and a swift death [albeit horrific and despicable] as opposed to a slow, agonising, painful and brutal death?!!! I ask you this with tears in my eyes, would you choose a death such as the one that poor bull suffered on Saturday night or would you rather take a bullet to the brain?!!!

the prhase “taking the bull by its horns” , which is European oriented, figuratively implies being able to meet and overcome the odds in ones life. we as Africans, we could simply demonstrate practically to ourselves as the Black Human Race that for the year ahead of us, we are fully prepared to meet those possible challenges and overcome them. We are doing that with full dignity and honour in the name of culture and not for the fun of it as Western and European blogs potray us.
