what a joke this all is – the rest of the world needs to stop talking about the problem and do something – sort it out – talking has clearly not achieved anything!!!!

Joshua Nkomo went into a power sharing deal with Mugabe and look at where it got us. Zanu is too corrupt for it to be included in Zimbabwe’s future and there’s just too much innocent blood on their hands. If Mugabe wanted to create an environment suitable for power sharing then he should have thought twice before going the pre-election killing rampage. Tell me, how will the MDC MP who had his wife tortured to death work with the perpetrators of her demise? The only reason these ZANU thugs will agree to power sharing is to protect themselves from prosecution and I say they should not be let scot-free after what we saw here. Surely just as Christ could not have made a deal with the devil, so shall it be between ZANU and the MDC!

Although I am a South African citizen, I strongly believe that the idea of implementing the so-called share the power of governing Zimbabwe is not the way foward, while the current Zimbabwean ‘President’ is still alive.

It will not make any sense at all…

Iam not empressed with the way , Thabo Mbeki is doing things in Zimbabwe there is this friendship going on with mugabe people are dying everyday, how many people should die then be the time for him to say ok now we can act. I think it true there is a deal among the two, the rumors are circulating that he owns a mining company in Zimbabwe that was given to him by mugabe so that he delay things.

So a government of national unity is not called for , I call for Mbeki to be removed total to pave a way forward for those who are concerned with the lives of the zimbabweans ( as for Mugabe he must be taken straight away and be locked in prison and the keys must be thrown away

Shared power in Zimbabwe will be solution if all the citezens of that country are behind it, as to solve the problems, secondly shared power means MDC has won the first elections and after that it was violance towards it members. The questions is who will be the head of state? Thirdly is the mediator expected to come with terms of negociations or Zimbabweans? If there is no sulution in this should the world endorse melitary solution? All of this means that Zimbabweans, SADC and OAU have to work together in order to bring stability, unity and peace in that country and the region especialy neibouring states. It was clear that Botswana took the stand it took in regard to Mogabes recognition as a result to high imgrants that came from Zim and the human vilolance that toook place in Zim. As long as the mediation efforts are there and no sunctions to ordinary Zimbabweans, Mogabe will use that to his advantage and it will not work as there are those countries that are still loyall to his regime like China. My conclution is that shared power will be solution if all Zimbabweans are behind it if they have aggreed to how they will solve above problems or compromises, who has to compromise morethan the other or is a matter of making that compromise for the benefit of the country? I think the rest of the world have to give Zimbabweans space to talk amongst themselfes with no exteriour pressure and Mogabe should stop violance to people of Zimbabwe and release all the polotical prisoners cancell all the charges agaist MDC leadership and start to go towards negociations of national unity if not he will die, Zimbabwe as it is! and that will result as a problem to neibouring states.

why crminals like Mugabe are given much time to maim and kill people in such a way that, it is like that he has the right to kill the way he want to whenever he fells to do so

stop the criminal befoer it is late! botswana is so supportive to the people of zimbabwe, So it will be better for Botswana to be given the right to rule in Zimbabwe as well until there is no Mugabe and his Chiwenga ,Mnangagwa and Shiri.

Mugabe is buying time so that he dies in office, he is not serious about forming a unity government because he is sitting on his evilways if he form a unity govenment then he will then not be protected of his evil ways

Transitional government while preparing new elections under a new constitution, is the way forward. GNU is a joke and waste of time. MDC & ZANU PF are worlds apart. We sick of Mbeki just playing along Mugabe, when honestly will people stop suffering under this tyrant. Thanx to Botswana, Oraila, Mwanawasa, Kikwete and Nigeria. These countries are really beginning to help

Shared power will not solve any problem because of the extent of damage that have been done already. There also exists a mistrust now between the two parties. On the other hand, I do not see any peace being achieved if Mugabe is still alive and not in power.

Whhhat sharing???
Zimbabwean opposition parties cannot share anything with Bob Mugabe.

Shared power is not the solution to Zim’s quandary as the ideals and objectives of both parties are diametrically opposed to each other. It does not work and lets not be hoodwinked by what happened in Kenya because that is a time bomb. In fact there is a more likelihood of Israel forming a two nation government of national unity headed by HAMAS than MDC and ZANU PF can form that union.

no power sharinfg in Zim, it won’t bring justice and equal rights to everybody. Why power sharing now? Why not before the run-off? African leadres supporting Mugabe are just like him. Thank you Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Burundi and all African condemning Mugabe and ZANU-PF. Mbeki go jump in a lake!!!

Edgar Tekere said ‘ Whoever is floating with the idea of a government of national unity ( GNU ) with Mugabe and ZANU -PF in Zimbabwe must be coming from another planet. Mugabe and ZANU-PF are insatiable serial killers.’ How often should this be repeated before Thabo Mbeki, the SADC and others realise that GNU is and will continue to be no solution to the Zimbabwe political stalemate?. Mugabe belives that only God will remove him from the position of power in Zimbabwe.

It may not be the ideal solution. It may be the only solution for the MDC. If the parties can come to a amicable truce and
stick to it, it may work. Or at the very least it will break the stale mate Mugabe seems to be enjoing. Lets face it, MDC does not have the ability to pull in anyone able to do anything to get Mugabe out now. He should go with plan B. Since he ababdond plan A. Yes I know he had no choice. Im not so sure. If he had stuck it out and seen the elections through, I think he might have been in a much stronger position. He might in fact have been the winner even with all the intimidation.

LUCKY ZONDO

SHARING WHAT?TSVANGIRAI HAS CHICKENED OUT OF THE RACE,SO WHAT IS IT THAT NEEDS TO BE SHARED?FOR WHAT?
THE MDC LEADERSHIP MUST GROWUP AND STOP BEING CHILDISH.
THEY TALK A LOT OF THINGS AT THE SAME TIME.WHY DID THEY WITHDREW FROM FROM THE RACE IN THE FIRST PLACE.THEY ARE ALWAYS MISLEAD BY THE WESTERN COLONIALIST WHO ARE BUSEY HAULING INSULTS AT MUGABE AND THE GO TO SLEEP,INSTEAD OF BRINGING A POLITICAL SOLUTION.
TSVANGIRAI HIMSELF IS NOT SERIOUS ABOUT HELPING INTERMS BRINGING A POLITICAL SITUATION IN ZIMBABWE.
WHY DID HE SNUBBED MBEKI’S MEDIATION EFORT ON SATURDAY 05th JULY’08.
CONSTITUTIOLY MUGABE IS THE PRESIDENT OF ZIMBABWE WHERE WE LIKE IT OR NOT.MORE PEOPLE HAVE VOTED IN THE RERUN OF THE ELECTIONS THAN IN MARCH.
SANCTIONS HAS NEVER HELP BEFORE AND THEY WILL NOT HELP IN FUTURE,EITHER.
THE ZIMBABWEANS WILL SUFFER MORE.AND MUGABE WILL NEVER FILL A PINCH.THE EUROPEANS ARE THE ONE WHO MANUFACTURED THE POLITICAL PROBLEMS IN ZIM AND THEY ARE FAILING TO SOLVE IT,EVEN THROUGH THEIR AGENTS IN ZIM.

WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL IT MAKE WHEN ONE INSULT MUGABE AND GO TO BED WITH HIS WIFE WHEN THE SUN SETS?

CAN THE SO CALLED DEMOCRATS TELL THE WESTERN COLONIALISTS TO STOP THE NONSENSICAL SANCTIONS BECAUSE THEY ARE MAKING THEIR AGENTS TO SUFFER AS WELL!!!

Lucky Zondo is an idiot!!! If I held a gun to someone’s head and told them to vote for me, GUESS WHAT? Exactly!
GNU is the most stupid thing to be suggested for Zimbabwe.
In a GNU, the government, collectively, is responsible for everything. All political parties have a degree of responsibility in the running of a country. While SA had a peaceful transition, a GNU worked well. In a scene like Zimbabwe, where Mugarbage fought for POWER (not democracy), he will cling to power until he dies and will only form a GNU if he knows he can blame the MDC for something. Mugarbage, as president, controls the cabinet, which has a higher authority in Zim than the Parliament. The cabinet will be only ZANY-PF while the Parliament will be about 50-50 ZANY-PF and MDC.
It doesn’t take a clever person to work out that Parliament will probably be dissolved and the only decision making authority will be the Cabinet.
Assuming this doesn’t happen, then the MDC will become the ZANY-PF’s scape-goat if “government” fails to deliver on something.
While we’re on this note, has anyone noticed that SA’s government is 70+% ANC? If anyone has, then why does the ANC blame government for doing nothing about various issues. Nothing happens (or doesn’t happen) without majority decision. Since all the opposition parties make up less that 30%, surely, then, it must be concluded that the ANC, in fact, is directly responsible for any and every thing that happens (or doesn’t happen) in SA. That also means that the ANC is to blame for doing nothing about xenophobic attacks; Eishkom; etc..
